Ive Got The Big Bad B Word On My Job!
|
That "B" word---B O R E D O M.
How did I get this wearing word in my work?
I got it because I don't have enough todo in my job! Yes, I have completed myassigned tasks, but I have time left over, which leads to boredom.
I know that all kinds of jobs have boredomconnected to them, "little bores" or "bigbores", if I reduce the concept to thesmall items I just mentioned.
I have to find a way to reduce the boredomI feel to make myself feel better about myjob and myself. I'll start here by listingwhat I can do to help myself.
First, I will ask for more assignments inmy job. I will complete them in a timelymanner, along with my assigned tasks.
Secondly, I will volunteer for more complicatedtasks and finish them.
Thirdly, I will use my free time more productivelyaway from the job to create more meaningfultasks for myself.
In fourth place, if I find that I cannot broadenthe job to meet more of my needs, I will lookat other departments to find a job that meetsmore of my competencies. Maybe, I'm boredbecause the job and I are mis-matched.
Lastly, I will talk to a trusted friend, familymember or counselor to find out if I'm boredabout being bored! If my expectations aboutwork are too high, then I will be bored no matterwhat I undertake. I gotta' get this bored feeling out of my life!

How To Write A Better Cv (uk), Or Resume (usa And Elsewhere)
The first point to make is that the terms "CV" and "Resume" (with or more often without the French acute accents over the e's) are virtually interchangeable in the UK; they mean the same thing, but if anything the norm is CV. In the USA and elsewhere, the CV (Curriculum Vitae to give it its full title - literally "Life Study") is a different animal - a dry listing of qualifications ...(related: Employment)
How To Get A Job Offer From Every Interview
About four years ago a friend told me one night that she had an interview the next week and was looking for some comfort as she was extremely nervous, as most people are about interviews. I thought back on my my carreer and realized that in the nine year of my career I had been to thirteen interviews and, more importantly, that I had received a job offer from every one of those interviews. I did not accept all the offers, but the point is that I had not once been to an interview without getting a job offer from it.In the past four years, I have been to another 6 interviews, of which I did not get job offers for 2 of them. The one was an interview at Volkswagen which a friend had setup because he "wanted" me to work there and by the time we started the interview, I realized...(related: Employment)

Now, Do You Have Any Questions?
"Who is that hot babe in the picture?" isn't the type of reply an interviewer expects to hear when he or she invites you to ask questions near the end of an interview. In fact, the way you approach the Q&A session will have a direct impact on the interviewer's perception of you. Based on the questions you ask, a judgment will be made in regard to how interested you seem to be in working for the company. For this reason, when you are forming questions ask yourself, What do I need to know about the company in order to determine if this is the workplace for me? How you answer this question depends on the career values that are important to you, and therefore, there isn't a right or wrong answer. That said, make sure that you do not ask the "What's-in-it-for me?" type question. Though questions re...(related: Employment)

Knowing And Guessing
The line between average and exceptional work performance is dotted with ordinary day-by-day behaviors. I was reminded of that line recently. My husband was explaining to a nurse how he'd inadvertently taken the last dose of the live typhoid virus on the wrong day and wondered if he needed to retake the sequence prior to our Africa trip. "No," she commented, "I think you'll be fi...(related: Employment)
