Group Check-in At Airports
|
Plan Ahead For A Smooth Check-in and Flight
When traveling with a group through a major airport, here are some tips to help things go smoothly while reducing your personal stress level:
1. Resist the temptation to hold on to everyone's tickets until they get in line at the terminal. Once your group is in line they will likely move through the agents VERY quickly. Give the tickets to the participants before they leave the bus.
2. As your group gets off the bus, take a moment to go inside and ask an agent where you should take your group. Most airlines have a special group check-in line that may or may not be where you expect it to be.
3. Before getting in line at the counter, organize your participants into groups. It is easy to get separated in the hustle of the check-in process, and being in small groups helps avoid the possibility of a straggler getting left behind in the shuffle. Do not try to group up in the terminal, in most cases it will be too busy and noisy to do so once inside.
4. Prior to arriving at the airport, consider marking all of your group's luggage with something that is easy to notice. A red ribbon on everyones luggage handle makes it easier to spot as it comes around on the belt.
5. Once your group has found your departure gate do not be too concerned if people want to go off to the bathroom or to get something to eat. Just make sure that your group leaders know what is going on, when the flight is going to board, and what time you want them back in the departure lounge. The group leader should always be the last person to get on the plane.

Aerodynamic Inflatable Wing Gates For Stol
Low speed flight characteristic are crucial to safety. Those aircraft that have good flight characteristics at low speeds are favored by pilots and the companies, military, NGO or private individuals who operate them. One way to increase positive slow speed flight characteristics is to install vertical gates on top of the wings of the aircraft to keep the air flowing over the wing at slow speeds. The only problem is that at high speeds these gates may also cause increased parasite drag which effects performance.I propose inflatable wing gates to pop up on modern day aircraft to allow for slower stall speeds on landing. This will increase tire and decrease landing speeds for increased safety. Additionally it will assist the aircraft by decreasing take roll. The gates ...(related: Aviation)
Helicopters Outfitted With Airbags
You know those airbags in your car? Did you know they are very similar in nature to the airbags deployment system used to crash land the Mars rover on the surface of Mars? Did you know that one company is making external airbags for helicopters and rotorcraft? It's all true. There are critical altitudes for helicopters incase of engine failure, altitudes that if the engine quits the helicopter will come crashing to the ground. Normally if the engine quits in a helicopter it can auto-rotate and the rotor blades spin around like a pin wheel or like the Da Vinci model helicopter. This keeps the aircraft gliding and as long as the pilot glides at the proper ratio, the helicopter hovers to the ground and just before getting their ...(related: Aviation)
