Where abouts are all the Blue King Crab

By: Andrew Crosby

Due to their great flavor, frozen crab legs are a delicacy for many people. Fishermen catch these crabs around Alaska and some of the other regions where there is cold water. So the crab will have a good flavor in the stores, it is often cooked on the boats and then quickly frozen.
Crabs are in great demand all over the world. As such, crabs are prepared on board the fishing boat and then frozen before it is sent to the stores Cooking the crab immediately on the boat ensures that their flavour is preserved. They are tasty, they are great!

Fancy restaurants serve crab legs often because they are in high demand and are the makes of a high class meal. The high price of the crab makes it a delicacy because not everyone can afford to have it. Twenty dollars a pound is usually what crab meat will cost and it can be more in some of the more developed countries of the world.
Usually a pound of this edible crustacean is worth at least $20. No matter the cost their flavour makes it worthwhile. You may find that in some places the cost of the crab may be even higher, yet this is overlooked due to the rare delicacy of the flesh. The demand for this rare and delicate crustacean makes it an integral dish that is offered in the more stylish diners around the world.

Frozen crab legs are created by three different kinds of crabs. The blue crab is a large one that has a big right claw when compared to the other two crabs. The smaller and more common than the others is the golden crab. The red crab is the most desired because of the red meat that has a sweeter flavour that is embedded in the meat.
Blue ones, red ones, gold ones - its true - the ten frozen little legs of a crab are a treat to me and you. However, there are other noticeable differences among the crabs. As with any true seafood consumer the colour of the crab does not make much difference. However their taste and size does count as noted with the red crab for its mouthwatering flavour and the blue one for its incredible claw.

The world has different types of crab meat in different locations. In Europe, the spider crab is the most desirable because of the meat on its legs. For those living in North America there is not a better choice than the Alaskan king crab because of the meat that is edible on its legs.
If you are a travelling crab lover - do not to worry. There is a crab at your destination for you to choose from. Known as the spider crab, these are more readily available in parts of Europe while in North America, they may have larger species of crab.

Crab meat can be prepared in many ways. It can be steamed, cooked on the stove, or in the oven. Crab meat can even be cooked using the microwave. When using the microwave it only takes 2 to 3 minutes compared to the other ways of cooking the crab legs that take almost 10 minutes
Just the simplest forms of cooking is necessary to make a one of a kind dish. So steam it, boil it, or bake it if you will, your meal will be delicious - unless of course it is burnt. Best though to use a microwave as this takes just a fraction of the time it would take when using the other methods.

Cook and eating crab legs are both a lot of work for people. A hammer, nutcracker or other hard object is used to crack the hard shell of the crab. Many people can crack the shell with just their hands so they can get to the sweet red crab meat inside the shell.
While finding ways to prepare the crab legs might not be so difficult, breaking its shell can be slightly tricky and so a hard implement is needed to break it open. Some people just try to crack the shell with their hands.

The rarity of the red crab meat make it a delicacy. The time and effort it takes to get the meat out of the shell could be another reason why its a delicacy. Despite the reason, frozen crab legs will still be needed as many people have come to love crab meat as one of their favourite meals.
Much to the disappointment of the Red crab meat lovers, there is hardly any available to satisfy their insatiable appetite. This in addition to the difficulty of extracting its flesh from the shell makes them a frozen relish for all.
