Treating Panic Attacks Naturally

By: Sean Reynolds

A panic attack is a sudden rush of fear and with or without reason. When attacks happen one after the other, it becomes a disorder. Whether a disorder or a normal panic attack, there are some ways you can do to alleviate and prevent their recurrence. If you have experienced a panic attack even just once in your life, you basically have an idea of how it could be crippling. Imagine if you'd have to deal with episodes of anxiety one after the other. It could rob you of your life.

Medications like anti depressants may be the most popular way of how to treat panic attacks. However, these medicines do not actually cure the attacks completely. They just try to mitigate│ lessen the symptoms by balancing the hormones which the body produces. If the attacks of fear are brought about by daily stress or major life events, they are best treated by using natural ways.

One natural way of how to treat panic attacks is by doing relaxation exercises. Depressed people or those experiencing bouts of fear and anxiety attest│ prove that learning how to relax (like doing yoga, tai chi, or breathing exercises) helps them overcome their immense fear of many things. Exercise helps them get rid of both physical and mental stress which are the primary causes of anxiety bouts.

Another thing that some sufferers of panic attacks do is go through hypnosis. It is believed to strengthen the control of the mind over the body by changing your perception of sensations. Hypnosis teaches you to physically relax and the overwhelming symptoms of panic attacks.

Exercise of self control is also thought to be necessary on how to treat panic attacks. Knowing how to control your own thoughts can help you manage│ handle panic attacks because these attacks are more often psychological in nature. Therefore, you can prevent│ stop or reverse their occurrences as long as your will is strong enough to fight them.

It may also help for you to know more about interoceptive therapy. This kind of therapy is a growing practice in treating anxiety disorders. It involves the patient being repeatedly exposed to the physical manifestations of panic attacks (like palpitations and hyperventilation), in a safe and controlled setting. The patient is on how to cope with the symptoms to prevent the anxiety attacks from overwhelming him or her and totally ruining his or her daily routine.

When you continuously│always force yourself to go through the sensations that you are fearful│ afraid of, you eventually learn to be less and less anxious about them. This is basically how to treat panic attacks by using interoceptive therapy. It teaches you to face your fears. When you are taught to deal with your fears in a controlled situation, you realize that your fright is irrational and you become more confident in facing the next panic episode until you no longer have to deal with one anymore.

Dealing with anxiety episodes is never easy, however, if you are equipped with the proper knowledge on how to treat panic attacks naturally, things could be significantly more manageable.
