Secrets To Success By Richard Mann

By: Richard Guy Mann

STRATEGIC PLAN
This is a more comprehensive breakdown of your dream book into quantifiable objectives to be achieved by a certain quarter.

It is absolutely essential for any long term achievement to have a long term
or strategic plan in place. This examines your skills, your objectives,
What you want, how much struggle you will put in. Also how much
Money you have, what advice you need, whether to include business Partners or not.

Personally I like to plan on a yearly basis and then split it down
Into quarters. When it says “must do’s” I mean these objectives are NOT
Negotiable - I will do these things come hell or high water.
Don’t be afraid to re-evaluate objectives at some point in the year, add new ones,
Remove ones that are unworkable, not working or no longer relevant due to
shifting priorities. Above all be adaptable, but have clear goals.
(I also add items ready to carry forward to the next year).

Your strategic plan should be dynamic, and develop, because our
Lives change all the time. This does NOT mean however that you
evade your objectives, remember these are “MUST DO’s”.
This strategic planning process will without doubt help you attain your
business, personal and Life Goals. Too much watching TV will not help you attain your goals.
Example
YEAR 2008 OBJECTIVES - MUST DO’s

Once you have achieve your quarterly objective then tick the box, this will make you feel good. Having a strategic objective will also make you feel in be in charge of of your life.

Homework
Stop reading now and sketch out an annual map for your business,
It doesn’t matter if its Untidy, with lots of crossings out etc, what is important is that You HAVE DONE IT. This is an indication of WORK ETHIC, which Will be discussed later.
Optional - Tactical Plan - For those who need one
Tactical Planning is the day to day tasks needed to conform your strategic plan. Below is a example daily workplan with suggested tasks though it is completely up to you what you put into your daily tactical plan. It should have structure and fit in with your energy levels at individual times, and because these are different for different people you ought to know yourself what things you are good at, at particular times of the day. For instance my best time for creative and technical work is the morning, say 6AM to midday. (Though I have been known to start at 4AM). Lunchtime I do administration responsibilities such as dealing with post, email, telephone calls, etc and in the afternoon I do work of a less technical or demanding nature.
Exert yourself according to your body’s rhythm’s

Some people do their finest work at 2 o’clock in the morning, fine, construct your tactical plan around this. Below is an example, adjust this to suit your own working style.

Remember, getting up one hour earlier each day will provide you an extra 5 hours per week, 20 hours per month and 240 hours per year, that’s an extra 30 days per year fruitful effort in your business! (If you feel exhausted go to bed one hour earlier).

Saying some positive affirmations, first thing in the morning, will get you in a positive state of mind to get you going and get off on the right track. Saying things like “Todays going to be a great day”, is giving your subconscious a direct order to have a great day, and it will do every thing in its control to achieve it.

NOTES

Focus
Focus is your talent to narrow in on your objectives and work, your ability to focus, and work undistracted, notwithstanding frustrating disturbances.

It is beneficial if you have an area of your home, like a study, somewhere you can focus, undisturbed, on your business. With the door lock. A corner of the kitchen table with the kids running around blaring is not an idyllic setup.

Please enlighten clearly to your partner that while in your office you ‘are working’. This does not imply you are free to do all the odd jobs that have stacked up. These can put off until the weekend. You need to be focused and disciplined if you are to make improvement. Millionaires are very focused on their goals, they are not diverted. Their energies are entirely focused on the venture in hand, and will not stop until it is completed.
