MLM Overload! How Do I Choose?

If you are thinking of getting started in a home based business these days, you are probably experiencing MLM Overload. They are everywhere. Seems like a new one starts up every few weeks. In fact, there hundreds of new Network Marketing companies every year. Even if your not looking to get into this business you still are more than likely being bombarded with offers to join this or that "New Opportunity."

Some of the newer one's popping up are so full of hype and promises that it almost becomes comical. So the question is: Are they flat out lying? What is hype and what is truth? My guess is that almost every company is going to be guilty of at least a little hype. I mean after all they are trying market their opportunity to you and they will at least paint the "Best Case Scenario." There is nothing really wrong with that but you have got to make sure that you do NOT get caught up in it.

Everyone has the "Best, the Latest and the Greatest." They all claim to be the Best Opportunity out there! You've got all kinds of Juices, Lotions and Potions to choose from. There is more nutritional companies than you can keep up with. You have make up, skin care, coins, software. Numis, AAchoo, Monavie, Pampered Chef, Mannatech... I could go on and on and on.

Network Marketing IS a great business to be in. It is NOT for everyone. In fact it is not the best business to be in for most people. However, if you are self-motivated, willing to learn and improve your self, able to handle rejection, have the ability to stay focused and can understand and appreciate the concept of "Delayed Gratification," You have a chance at being successful in this industry.

There is good new however, not every one who has mad it big in MLM has always been successful. Many start out and fall flat on their face. But the great thing about this industry is that along with it usually came a wealth of Personal Development training. If this is all that you get from this industry, than I would say that this alone is a big benefit. I know in my early years in this business I grew immensely as a person from the training that I was exposed to. This certainly impacted my life in a huge way.

Robert kiyosaki is one of the most respected business minds of our times. He recently wrote a book called "The Business of the 21st Century" in which he says that especially in this day and age the best way to create wealth is through Network Marketing. He calls this the "Business of the 21st Century." Very little investment, very little risk. Donald Trump also shares this mind set as well. So the idea that Network Marketing is a scam is just "old and shallow thing." However, there are some companies with in this industry that can be and are scams. So you do want to beware and always do you research.

How do I choose one that is right for me, you might ask? Good question. There are a number of things that are important to look for. They are:

1) Start with the Company. Make sure you know who is running the company and are they trust worthy, do they have a history that you can follow? Do they have a sound financial backing? (note: virtually every company in existence will have some sort of "negative" press floating around on the internet. This is unfortunately the nature of this business. Often times it is simply a competitor trying to discredit their competition.)

2) The product. Is the product something that you would want to buy even if it was not an MLM opportunity? What kind of competition do they have now and in the future? Who is the market for this product? Is it limited to a small demographic or will it be appealing to a much larger market? Obviously this one point alone could be a huge factor in your success. Some products out there are literally only for a small amount of the population while others are actually marketable to almost every living person.

3) Duplication Dynamics. You may be able to do a great job with this opportunity but what about everyone else? Will they be able to duplicate what you are doing?

4) Compensation Plan. All comp plans are different in some way. You must know what to look for in a comp plan. After all, you are not joining a MLM company to make friends are you? You're in it to get paid. I will cover this more in detail in another article. Is it Legal?

5) YOU! Even though the previous factors are very important, they would all be worthless with out you. This is one of the main reasons why every Network Marketing company will offer and recommend personal development training. Many say that people will join you, not the opportunity. I believe this is mostly true, however, I also believe that if you are joining a new opportunity just because of the person that is sponsoring you than you are not being totally responsible yourself. Yout still must think for yourself. Do you own research and make your own decision.

There are more things to consider when joining a new opportunity, however, I just wanted to at least cover a few of what I consider to be very important. Before you make the big decision to join a MLM opportunity, make sure you find someone who has been in the industry for a while and achieved some good success in the industry. Follow the lead of someone who is successful and you will be successful too.

In this Internet age, there are some very good ways to build your business. With a little training and the right support your chances of being a success are greatly increased. You are no longer limited to your friends and family.
