Is All You Know About Preventing Colon Cancer True?

By: JohnJames

Colon cancer could easily be one of the many diseases known to Americans today that are hereditary. The fact that someone in your pedigree has somehow or sometime had it before is an indication that you also could suffer from it. And pray that it is not that stubborn type which continues to expand all the time.

Nearly as evil as breast cancer is, you also have colon cancer on the spectrum of killer diseases that plague today's world. You might not even get to detect it in a hurry because it is in your bowels. All of a sudden, it's a nasty mess and you wish you had been aware a lot earlier.

To diagnose colorectal cancer, there usually needs to be a colonoscopy. Short of this, you might never be able to tell for certain how badly you are infected or infect if you really are. So, it’s worth repeating – early detection can save your life from colon cancer.

Treating colorectal cancer is never an easy process. Diagnosis is first made using a colonoscopy to tell how badly infected you are before the doctor begins to treat. Oftentimes they begin with a surgery, and then they go into other processes that they might deem necessary. But the good news is that death can be prevented or delayed even when you have colon cancer. It's no longer an INSTANT death sentence, as it used to be in the past.

Funny how a disease in your… er, bowels could make you to lose all your hairs. Unlikely? Well, you are wrong too. The doctor mostly needs chemotherapy to top off all your colon cancer treatment. And chemotherapy causes you to lose your hairs. But isn’t it better to just lose your hair and still survive the condition?

Colon cancer can be a killer if not detected early. However, there are several new techniques that have been developed over time that greatly improve the ability to detect the malady. Once you can catch it, you have at least a chance of surviving the condition.

It is easy to assume that colon cancer is not as rampant in Canada as in the United States because the recorded figures are not as much. This would be inaccurate though, because the US does have a larger population, hence the larger numbers.

When you are young, you might not easily contract a colon cancer. As you grow old though, the chances increase that you might get infected. The disease can be handled easily if you are able to catch it early enough, so you need to be on the lookout so that it does not get past benign stage.
