How to Recover Data from Corrupted microSD card?

MicroSD is the thinner version of standard SD (Secure Digital) cards, designed especially for mobile phones. These cards are often used in digital cameras, portable media players, mobile phones, digital audio players, and other similar devices. Like any other flash memory card, microSD cards can store varying types of photo(s), video(s), and audio(s) and also, lose data due to common reasons. A corrupted microSD card is generally unreadable and inaccessible to the user. Thus to restore the data, the user needs to restore from an updated backup or use an SD Card Recovery utility.

Consider, trying to read a microSD card with a card reader and accidentally pulling it out while its file(s) were still open in your Windows computer. The next time, when you connect the same microSD card to the associated device, it refuses to read the card. Additionally, an error pops up that reads as below:

“A Media Card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a disk error-checking utility on a computer.”

This error doesn't allow you to access data from your microSD card further.

Cause

The file system structure of microSD card is corrupted.

Solution

You can solve the existing issue by running chkdsk on the card in Windows computer. For this, you need to follow the given steps:

• Connect microSD card to your Windows computer


• Open 'My Computer' and right-click the icon of removable disk


• Choose 'Properties' and then click the 'Tools' tab


• Click 'Check Now' and then select the 'Automatically fix file system errors' option


• Click 'Start'
