How to Choose the Best Guitar Lesson DVD

By: Tony Ralings

You already know you want to take guitar lessons and have opted for choosing a learn guitar DVD course. And you know that you definitely want the best in terms of quality and quantity of the lessons. But how do you go about deciding guitar lesson DVD is best? You could just go to your local book store and pick up a ten dollar course from the shelf but if you have done that already then you know you become quickly dissapointed. These courses rarely go into the amount of detail needed to get you on your way to mastering guitar. And do you ever even see the instructors face? Seriously, you may not think it's a big decision but it could be the difference between success and failure when you are starting to learn guitar.

Your next option might be to head out to your local music store. Now you are definitely getting closer to finding something that you can actually utilize to learn guitar the right way. However, a lot of music stores, the smaller ones at least, have a lot of books and CDs but not a lot of choices in the way of guitar lessons on DVD. The few choices they do have will vary in quality and it is really hard to determine if you are getting your moneys worth until you actually get the product home and throw it in the DVD player.

One of the better ways to find a good course is to ask other people that have already used such courses. You definitely want to make sure you talk to people that actually have a bit of experience playing or teaching. You can usually find such musicians back at your local music shop or anywhere tha Musicians are usually more than happy to give you their recommendations and the more honest reviews you collect, the more likely you will find the right course to learn from.

You should also take time to think about the reason you are wanting to learn guitar. If you only want to play blues guitar, then it might be important for you to consider courses that only focus on the blues style. This is true no matter what playing style you prefer. You shouldn't spend too much time focusing on one style if you really want to play another. Now, if you just want to learn to play a little bit of everything then you should focus on a course that offers several styles and has a very versatile and professional instructor. You might also keep in mind that some techniques can be useful in several styles of music so you should be careful what programs you rule out.

So you have been to the local guitar store, the book store, and consulted every musician that you know but your still stuck?! That's when it is time to pull up your favorite comfy chair, break out the laptop, and do some searching on the web. Check out some guitar learning forums, a few review sites, and just do some general searching on the topic. You should soon start to see a few learn guitar DVD programs standing out. You will be able to quickly make a decision, maybe even place an order online and be well on your way to guitar mastery in no time at all.
