From the beginning of April to the end of June 2010, twenty one percent of tenants could not pay their landlords according to the National Landlords Association. In contrast to the twenty four and a half percent value given for the first three months of the year, this is a sizeable decline. We have also seen a fall in the total sum of outstanding rental arrears from £978 in The first quater to £799 in Q2. We are seeing more and more tenants in stronger financial positions as the British economy recovers.
David Salusbury, Chairman of the NLA, said, 'rent arrears are a serious problem for landlords all over the UK. It is good to see the latest data which represents a small improvement in that more tenants are keeping up with their rent payments and not putting pressure on their landlords who may well have mortgage repayments to consider'.

'Where problems do exist, the NLA’s new service is designed for landlords who need a helping hand in guiding them through what can be particularly stressful and complicated procedures which must be carried out correctly. NLA Rent Arrears provides a structured and cost-effective route for resolving such situations', he went on.

Rent Guarantee Insurance can offer landlords, who are worried about the problem of rental debts, great cover.
