Digital Video recorder: Pause, Revind, Play Live TV

A Digital Video Recorder is a stand-alone recording device that records to a built-in Hard Drive. It is able to works with a Cable, DTH TV to record television, and which includes the ability to pause and rewind Live TV. The channel the DVR is tuned to being constantly recorded, which allows for rewinding and pausing. The DVR includes some type of Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) to schedule TV shows to record hours or days in advance.
The High Definition (HD) Digital Video Recording devices are starting to become more readily available, and affordable, for consumers. The DVRs offer all the functionality of a standard DVR (like TiVo) but also allow for viewing and recording of HD broadcasts. If you are a Cable subscriber, there are HD DVRs available to lease from the providers for a monthly fee. DTH service providers have HD DVRs available to purchase. There are also some Media Center PCs and TV Capture Cards with HD compatibility. Satellite TV comes many of varieties, each company offers a High Definition Digital Video Recorder.
Tata Sky become first DTH service provider to provide DVR: -
There are many DTH service providers are available in the market. Hence, due to increased competition from Airtel Digital TV and Big TV, Tata Sky has launched a new service Tata Sky+, which uses the much expected personal video recorder (PVR) technology. PVR allows viewers to Pause TV, Rewind and even Record one channel while watching another channel. The recording can be done maximum for 42 to 45 minutes which is done on an in built Hard Disk. The set top box provided by Tata Sky for Tata Sky+ would be different from existing one. The new service provided by the Tata Sky is aimed at premium customers and have a smooth look to it with a black and red color combination.
Airtel DVR: -
Airtel has also brought into existence its own digital TV recorder that can record up to 100 hours of your favourite TV movies and serials. The best thing about it is that you can record you programme it remotely, from your mobile phone. The mobile phone has to be able to support Java applications and should be at least GPRS enabled. Though, it is not clear whether the DVR can be accessed from a non-Airtel phone number. All the features you find on similar boxes elsewhere are present here as well. If you are already an Airtel DTH subscriber you can upgrade the set top box also.
