A How-To Guide To Facelift Surgery

By: Paul N. Gilles

Blame it on too much sun, too much stress, the normal aging process, or bad genes. It does not really matter what was the reason of the baggy drooping skin on your face that makes you long for facelift surgery. Fortunately today, there are many latest and enhanced techniques and types of facelifts that are out there.

There are some types of facelift like deep plane lift, an endoscopic facelift, or a short scar facelift, to name just a few. If you have well-defined bone structure and a strong jaw line, you may very well be a good candidate for these procedures. Most patients are in their 40s,50s, and 60s, however much older folk have also had similar cosmetic surgeries.

Some people choose to do the procedure due to a number of reasons, most of them age-related. Wrinkles and lines, a difference in skin pigment, loss of volume and elasticity, and even the pull of gravity are all difficult to the man or woman who requires to maintain a younger looking appearance. The most important objective of a facelift is to deal with lax creases and folds. After a successful surgery, the result is a younger, stronger, and healthy-looking face. It would seem that a number of years has been erased for many successful candidates.

The initial step in pursuing facelift surgery is to select a competent surgeon whom you trust. While the majority of cosmetic doctors are great, there are still bad feedbacks about patients who were deeply scarred or even died at the hands of a charlatan pretending to be a qualified cosmetic surgeon. During the first consultation, your doctor will gather a full medical history. He will also measure your skin for elasticity, consider your bone structure and measure your wrinkles, folds, and hairline placement. If you smoke cigarettes, you must stop for a few weeks before and after the surgery. Failure to do so can cause an increased danger of the skin dying at the incision sites.

Facelift surgery is normally an outpatient procedure lasting 2-4 hours. You will be given anesthesia and experience moderate swelling immediately following your procedure. You may well be black and blue for the next 24 hours and have drains in your face for a few days. But within 4-6 weeks you will look well enough to enjoy some social gatherings and by 7 weeks you should be in full swing again, as long as there have not been any complications.

We cannot deny that there are also some imminent accidents, but facelift surgery is becoming a commonplace procedure for those who want to turn back the clock for as long as possible.
